Grant Spratt Graduate Scholarship in Geology
Born in 1904, Joseph Grant Spratt received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in geology from the University of Manitoba. Grant played an important role in integrating the sciences of geology and petroleum engineering into the producing function of the oil industry in Western Canada. Grant was a modest person with a warm personality and a delightful sense of humour. He was forthright and honest and respected in the industry. This award is intended to support graduate students who share his principles of commitment to community and profession.

Apply Students interested in the award should consult the Department of Geoscience. Candidates must submit a one-page research proposal and a one-page statement that describes their contribution to the quality of student life and community in the graduate program.

A recommendation will be forwarded to the Graduate Scholarship Office. The recommendation is subject to final approval of the Graduate Scholarship Committee.
