Kertland Family Doctoral Scholarship in Vascular Biology
David S. (Kim) Kertland has been a significant supporter of the scientific community at the University of Calgary. Through his contributions, Mr. Kertland has fostered the development of vascular biology within the Cumming School of Medicine. This scholarship reflects his commitment to the next generation of scientists involved in basic vascular biology research.

Eligibility • Open to students registered full-time in a doctoral program and supervised by a full or associate member of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute (LCI) in the Cumming School of Medicine. At the time of application, students must be within 24 months of their initial registration.
• Applicants must be pursuing basic vascular biology research into the mechanistic basis of vessel contraction, angiogenesis or arterial pathophysiology
• Students holding a major graduate scholarship from Alberta Innovates, CIHR, NSERC or any other funding agency are not eligible. A student holding this award who subsequently receives one of the above awards must accept the funding agency award and inform the Associate Dean Graduate Sciences Education, and the Graduate Scholarship Office, of his/her external offer.
• This scholarship will be matched by a $12,500 award from the recipient’s supervisor.
