Helen McWilliam Memorial Scholarship
Helen McWilliam was one of Alberta’s pioneers in the field of school psychology. She worked at the Alberta Guidance Clinic and later was associate director in student counselling at the University of Calgary for three years prior to joining in the board. McWilliam was the first senior psychologist appointed to the Calgary School Board. Over some twenty years until her death in 1982, she developed an outstanding department of school psychologists in the Special Educational Division, later known as the Department of Student Services. Helen was a charter member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta and served for many years as secretary treasurer registrar. In collaboration with the University of Calgary she acted as senior tutor for field supervision of students training as school psychologists.
